Drabby To Fabby: Living Room

Living Room!

When you see these Before and After pictures you will think "That is a completely different house." And let me tell you that is exactly how I feel. Our Living Room was one of the first projects we worked on because it was pretty much just cosmetic things. When we purchased the house I KNEW that the UGLY turquoise walls had to go RIGHT AWAY!!!! The color wasn't terrible but it was so dark and for the layout of the house the walls needed to be a light color to seem bigger. There was so much wood trim that I didn't know what to do with myself! We painted the living room walls with Behr paint in the color WindDrift. It took THREE yes THREE layers of paint to cover that hideous color and I still feel like its not completely covered. I felt kind of bad about painting the walls because the previous owners literally just painted the house to sell it! But not sure why they chose that color. (insert face palm emoji)We then painted the ceiling white. Yes i said white and no it wasn't white to start out with! It was GRAY!! In fact all the ceilings upstairs are GRAY so its a very time consuming job. So if you like painting let me know and ill give you a job. HAHAHA but no seriously I'm not sure why Alaskans think painted ceilings the same color as the walls is a thing.  After all the walls were covered, I painted the window trims white! Eventually we want to get new windows to where they can open so more air flow runs throughout the house and with that all new trim will be put in. We still have a few more projects in the living room to do like deciding if we want to paint all the floor trim or replace with new. I'm leaning more toward new but it all depends what's in the budget. I also haven't decided if I want to paint the fireplace white, sand it down and stain it a natural wood color, or just leave it. So for now its being left but I need to decide because the claw marks in the wood are driving me crazy. hahaha. We also eventually want to add a ceiling fan(s) or recess lighting in there because yup you guessed it there is NO lights in the ENTIRE living room which isn't a probably in the summer but in the winter its very dark and not enough lamps light it up. But again that requires an electrician and lights so I can only imagine that budget will be a little high. But it will all get down eventually! But for now here are our before and after's and stay tuned for all our house projects!!! My next post will probably be the kids bedrooms because those are somewhat done minus the undone trim hahaha. But ill save that explanation for the next post!
